Goodbye to a (family) legend

The vehicle many of you may know as my dad's red pickup will, this weekend, move on to greener pastures. A junkyard offered us $100 for it, and it seems my dad is ready to let it move on.

You'll have to look in the album to see the final mileage. This truck did some serious damage in that area. I don't know anything about cars, but apparently some decades ago Toyota had this promotion thing where if you reached a certain mileage, they'd give you a brand-new truck. My dad's Toyota passed that particular mile-marker a long time ago.

I put a Steppenwolf video with the slideshow, one of Dad's favorite songs and one we rocked out to in the pickup many a time. *** "Wild" might well describe the experience of riding in the truck in the past few months - my dad sometimes didn't know if he could reach a destination of any length in it reliably. Quite often you could find Dad sprawled beneath the truck, doing his best to keep it running for another week, month, whatever. Because of its rather unpredictable nature, Dad was really the sole user (though Julie and I have been known to arrive at school many times in this "sweet ride").

So long, truck. You served us well.

a girl graduating

What a day... oodles of leftover cheesecake (now passed off to neighbors), people I haven't seen in at least 5 years wandering through the house... Pretty amazing, just considering my sister got her turn at the mic to give a speech. She was pretty smooth!

Needless to say, I'm really proud of her. Enjoy!

My photos from Cami & Calvin's b-day

It's been a while since I've been around that many small children at once! The cake enchanted them, and I loved listening in on their earnest, high-pitched conversations.

Jude was also a sweetheart.
